The Fitzpatrick lab welcomed two accelerated MASc students this fall 2024: Skylar Knibbs and Meghan Van Buuren. They recently completed their summer internship at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) and Aerogen respectively. We are excited that they are bringing incredible experiences to the lab.
“As a Summer Research Fellow in the Assay Development and Screening Technology lab at NCATS, I worked on developing a platform for controlled protein export in-cell using Sonic Hedgehog autoprocessing. I wrapped up my experience by presenting my research at the NIH Summer Poster Day ” says Skylar. Meghan conducted her 12-month internship with QUIP abroad at Aerogen – a medical technology company based in Galway, Ireland which specializes in acute care aerosol drug delivery. “As a Core R&D Intern in the development lab, I worked on the development of a vibrating mesh aperture plate to be used in a nebulizer. In particular, my work focused on testing and developing an aperture plate to be used for non-invasive surfactant treatment for respiratory distress syndrome in premature babies” says Meghan.
